Raeford Spainhour

Mr. Raeford Spainhour, age 78 went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Spainhour was born in Forsyth County, April 16, 1936 to Thomas Hobart and Martha Vaughn Spainhour. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, a veteran of the United States Army and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 38 years of service. In addition to his parents Mr. Spainhour was preceded in death by two sisters; Daisy S. Starling and Ruth S. Poindexter. Three brothers; Everette, Earl and Howard Spainhour.
Mr. Spainhour is survived by his wife of 57 years of marriage, Shelby Spainhour. One daughter, Vonda (Todd) Harriman. One son, Dirk (Linda) Spainhour. Three grandchildren; Emily Harriman, Andrea Harriman and Erin Spainhour. Two sisters; Norma Cox and Bonnie Speas. One brother, Hank Spainhour. Several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Spainhour will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Rev. Tim Gammons. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. Military burial honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends at Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem Monday evening January 5th from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is serving the Spainhour family.
