On Monday, April 24, 2017, Rachel Sink Perrell, 95, passed away peacefully at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She is now in the more immediate presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Rachel grew up in the Reedy Creek community. Her parents, Gideon Sink and Sally Wood Sink; step-mothers Mary Fishel Sink, and Lizzie Ripple Sink, as well as, all 10 siblings and spouses have preceded her in death. Minnie Sink Snyder, Carl Sink, Dessie Michael, Isabell Johnson, Roy Sink, Beulah Hill, Ida Byerly, Doris Sink, a baby died at birth, and brother, Conrad died at 12 yrs. old. In 1941, Rachel married the love of her life, Barney Lee Perrell, who used to sing ""You Are My Sunshine"" to her. Barney died at age 39 of a brain tumor. Son-in-law, Alan Long and several nieces and nephews preceded Rachel in death. In 1963, Rachel completed her Licensed Practical Nursing training at Forsyth Technical Institute and worked as a private duty LPN for many years. Surviving are a son, Gary Perrell and daughter-in-law, Jean; daughters, Judy Long and Bonnie Landreth and son-in-law, Joe. Five grandchildren, Andy Perrell (Gaby), Cindy Hylton (Dewey), Christy Wall (Tommy), Denise Styron (Joel) and Joseph Long (Dana). Eleven great-grandchildren. A special family friend, she loved like a son, Tommy Lambeth. Rachel's family, extended family and church family have been a large part of her life. She has been an active member of Hopewell Moravian Church as long as her health allowed. Rachel loved cooking a pot of pinto beans and a pan of yeast rolls for anyone she thought needed them; and also taking friends to doctors' appointments, activities or shopping.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm, Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Hopewell Moravian Church with Rev. Walter Bishop and Rev. David Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the service at the fellowship hall. Hayworth Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home and Almost Home Group Home in Thomasville for their loving care of our Mom.
