Rachel Smith

Mrs. Rachel Luffman Smith, 89, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022.  She was born January 4, 1932, in Forsyth County to the late Truley and Ruth Luffman.  Rachel had many things that brought here joy in life, but the one that she loved above all else was being a mother.  She was a long-time member of Elon Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School.  In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Smith; son, William G. Smith; daughter, Kathy D. Smith; and granddaughter, Christy A. Harris.  She is survived by three daughters: Carol Dillon (Jerry), Brenda Tetiva (Steve), and Barbara Harris (Fletcher); son, Mark Smith (Glenda); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Smith.  A memorial service will be held at Parklawn Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 7, 2022, with Chaplain Andrew Southern officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valle Hospice & Palliative Care, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017 or ACS Attention Relay for life of the triad Team Mt.
