Rachel James

Mrs. Rachel Eddinger James, age 97, of Winston Salem passed away early Saturday morning, April 23, 2022, at Vienna Village Assisted Living. She was born in Forsyth County on July 13, 1924, to the late David Elias and May Hege Eddinger. Mrs. James was retired from AT&T with 30 years of service, and she was a member of Shallowford Baptist Church in Pfafftown. In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Billie Edward James Sr.; son, Billie Edward James Jr.; her grandson, Kenan David James; her brothers, Will Eddinger, Clifford Hege, Wilson Eddinger, Faris Eddinger, and David Eddinger; her sisters, Allie Eddinger Pope, Mae Eddinger Lambeth, Daisy Eddinger Reich, and Rebecca Eddinger Contreras. Surviving are her children, Timothy N. James (Debbie) of Cherokee, NC, Ann James Schuyler (Thom) of Fort Worth, TX, and Myron M. James (Teresa) of Lexington, NC; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Kristy, Zach, Sarah, Kyle, Josh, Ben, and Deidre; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; many nieces, and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. A funeral service will at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Tim James and Pastor Terry Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family would like to express their thanks to Harry and Cozie Cooley, Linda Walker, and June and Howard Flynt for their care and friendship and to Vienna Village Assisted Living for their loving care shown to Rachel.
