Rachel Anderson Gray

Lexington-Rachel Anderson Gray, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010. She was born April 22, 1927 in Wilkes County to the late Ransom and Lillie Shatley Anderson. Mrs. Gray was a member at First Baptist Church of Welcome. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was known by her family and to everyone as ""Nannie."" Mrs. Gray had a special desire to always help others first. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert S. Gray; son, Mike Nichols; two brothers, E.J. Anderson and Bud Anderson and a sister, Ruby Welborn. Surviving is a daughter, Kaye Nichols Berrier (Rick); four grandchildren, Brad Berrier (Jaimie), Brian Berrier (Kim), Chad Nichols, and Andrew Nichols; four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Berrier, Emery Berrier, Richard Michael Berrier, and Ryan Nichols; two sisters, Ruth Gray and Ailene Andrews and three brothers, Jim, Noah, and Roy Anderson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 19, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Welcome with Rev. Mark Blair, Rev. Paul Riggs, and Rev. Dennis Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
