R. B. Kerner IV

Winston-Salem - Mr. R.B. Kerner, IV died June 30, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. R.B. was born in Kernersville on March 8, 1939 to the late R.B. Kerner, III and Lucille Newell Kerner. After high school, he attended Appalachian State Teachers' College. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 31 years of service. R.B. was a charter member of the OK West Booster Club of West Forsyth High School and an active supporter of Open Arms Ministry and the Salvation Army. Surviving are his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years, Norma Evans Kerner of the home; daughter, Andrea K. Anderson of Eads, TN; son, Steven Byron Tisdale of Pfafftown; half brothers, Ted Shelton and Charles Kerner; half sisters, Katie Lawson and Debbie Outen; and seven grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, Amy, Grace, Faith, Abigail, and Samuel Anderson. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel between 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bret Cogan officiating. Memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
