Mr. R.W. ""Bill"" Brown passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Yadkin County to the late R.W. and Nellie Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betrel McCants and Mildred Whatley. Survivors are his wife of 50 years, Ella B. Brown. His children are William Brown and wife Cathy , Robert ""Bob"" Brown and wife Sandie and Carolyn Brown. His grandchildren are Ryan Brown, Jordan Brown, Cora Brown and Jesse Brown. A sister, Glenda Kiser; two brothers, Bob Brown and Joseph Brown. He retired from Teamsters Local 391 as a Business Agent and Organizer. He was a Past Master of Salem Lodge #289 and Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #60. In his early years, he was a mechanic for Bobby and Billy Myers Racing, then he served two years in the Army in the 66th Military Police Unit. Also he was very active in the Democratic Party. He was an avid golf player and was a member of Wilshire Golf Course. Also, he enjoyed his friends at the Wellness Program at Forsyth Medical Center where he exercised daily. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Norwood Green officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank the Neuro ICU Unit and nurses, especially Dr. Chase. Also, Dr. Stinson at Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center.
