Powell Dennis Lawson

Mr. Powell Dennis Lawson, 96, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Woltz Hospice Home. He was born on January 14, 1929, in Stokes County to the late Powell Ezra Lawson and Betty Fagg Lawson. Powell retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after over 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, playing with his cat, and feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard. Powell also enjoyed spending time at the beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Duggins Lawson; one brother; and four sisters. Powell is survived by two sons, Frank Lawson (Pollie), and Randy Lawson (Pam); one sister, Mary “Merney” Rierson; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to Powell’s neighbors, Jack and Nada Moore, the staff of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living, the staff of Woltz Hospice Home, and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care of Powell. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Peter Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice P.O. Box 325 Dobson, NC, 27017.
