Polly Tuttle Davis Smith, 87, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Polly was a Christian and has gone home to be with her heavenly Father. She will be missed by many. At the time of her passing, Polly was surrounded by family.
Mrs. Smith was born August 4, 1937, in Forsyth County, to Lemer Edgar Tuttle and Dorothy Wilson Eller. Polly attended Gray High School but graduated from Griffith High School. She was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir as long as her health allowed. Polly loved to cook and was known for her strawberry cake. She loved her family, flowers, gardening, and loved the frequent beach trips. She also loved her Atlanta Braves and Duke Blue Devils.
In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her first husband, Dallas Wayne Davis; and two sisters, Lucy Biesecker and Brenda Matthews.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 27 years, Grayson Smith; her son, Mark Davis (Carol); her daughter, Susan Davis Tucker (Mike); her stepson, Michael Smith (Melinda); five grandchildren, Brent Tucker, Alana Tucker, Holly Davis LaBarr, Whitney Davis, and Emily Davis; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllis Merrell, and Kathy Berrier.
A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Canaan United Methodist Church with Rev. Jay Bowers officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Samaritan’s Purse, 801 Bamboo Rd, Boone, NC 28607.
