Mrs. Phyllis Bowden Whisenhunt, 79, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at her home. She was born August 19, 1933 in Forsyth County to James A. and Leona Mathis Bowden. Mrs. Whisenhunt retired from Western Electric after 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy F. Whisenhunt; one son, Marcus Lee Whisenhunt. Surviving are her two grandsons, Aaron Lee Whisenhunt and Matthew Franklin Whisenhunt, both of Winston-Salem; one great granddaughter, Jessica Leigh Whisenhunt and a sister, Nancy Whitman with her husband Ernest Whitman of Winston-Salem; a dear friend who took care of her while she was ill, Janice Miller. Throughout Phyllis' illness she was surrounded by lifelong friends including Dot, Thurmond, Patty, Roger, Ida and Brenda. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Robert J. Long officiating.
