Phillip Ray Jones

Clemmons Mr. Phillip Ray Jones, 85, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 4, 2014. He was born December 15, 1928, the son of the late William Henry and Annie Smith Jones, the youngest of 12 children. Phillip retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after working 40 ½ years. He was a lifetime member of Concord United Methodist Church in Lewisville, NC. He loved his church and served in many capacities over the years. Phillip loved sports and watching the Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed being outside especially gardening. Preceding him in death was a son, Stephen Phillip Jones; five brothers and five sisters. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Wilma Woosley Jones; son, John Thomas Jones (Sherry) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister-in-law, Mamie P. Jones; brother, William R. Jones (Dorothy); grandchildren, Christopher S. Jones (Tracy) of Raleigh, Jeffrey R. Jones (Jen) of Tobaccoville, Jessica E. Jones of Tobaccoville, and Hannah A. Jones of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren, Abby and Allie of Raleigh; special friend, Larry Melaga of Lewisville; also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom he loved. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Flack and Rev. Thomas W. Albert officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the family life center.
