Pete James Pappas of Winston-Salem, NC in the early morning hours of February 13th passed away after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on October 3rd 1949 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to James and Dena Pappas, which have both preceded him in death. He graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1969. He lived a full adventurous life, living for today, enjoying his family and friends. He loved his family and friends deeply and they loved him. He had so much pride in his two daughters and three grandchildren. He loved people and never seemed to meet a stranger. His smile was infectious and his sense of humor priceless. Pete was so terribly proud and grateful to have made it to walk his daughter down the aisle in November. He leaves behind his daughters Ashley Pappas and son in law to be James ""Jamie"" Minton, Bria Pappas Higgins, son in law Kyle Higgins, granddaughters Hailey Pappas and Boston Minton, grandson Kaden Higgins, brother Nick Pappas, sister Jenny Hill, brother in law Scott Hill, nephews and nieces Paul Morris, Nick Pappas, Demetrius Pappas, Logan Hill, Austin Hill and countless dear friends. The family will receive friends from 7pm-8:30pm with a Trisagion at 7:30 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek on Monday, February 16th. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am at the Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, February 17th with Fr. Demetri Kangelaris, Fr. Dennis Canavos, Fr. George Kiricoples, and Fr. George Vlahos officiating. The internment will immediately follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
