Mrs. Peggy Nunn Wilkins Belk, 87, of Pilot Mountain (formerly of Winston-Salem), went to live with Jesus on Saturday, July 30, 2022. Peggy was born in Stokes County on March 24, 1935 to the late John Henry and Ula Carson Nunn. She worked in the preschool at Gospel Light Baptist Church for many years and later worked as a teaching assistant in the public school system. Peggy was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Nunn; and two sisters, Edith Anderson and Ethel Cheek. Surviving family includes her four daughters, Pamela Lynn Duncan of Lexington, Tammy Butner of Walnut Cove, Robin Hill of Mt. Airy and Lesa Butner of Pilot Mountain who Peggy lived with at the time of her passing; one son, Joey Dale Butner; one sister, Virginia Nell Dodson of Pfafftown; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Becks Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jason East officiating and Melanie East (Peggy’s granddaughter) singing. A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lori Ore, who helped care for Peggy’s sweet dog, little Beba.
