Peggy Lewter

Winston-Salem: Peggy Fishel Shuford Lewter, 86, passed away at Davie Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on August 29, 2021. She was born on August 28, 1935, to Clyde William Fishel and Mertie Allen Fishel in Forsyth County. She graduated from Griffith High School and was a member of Hopewell Moravian Church. Peggy was retired from Taylor Brothers Tobacco Co. She enjoyed time spent with her senior friends at the “60 Plus Club.” Peggy loved the outdoors, particularly, gardening and working in her flowers. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother “GG”; and a dear sister. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Worth Price “Mickey” Lewter; infant son, Jeffrey Lee Shuford; brothers, Wilburn Fishel and Roger Fishel; and sisters, Patty Rae Hendrix and Virginia Davis. Surviving are her son, Timothy Shuford; daughter, Kim Rominger (William); grandson, Lance Rominger (Cristy); great grandson, Tyler Rominger; brother, Sidney Fishel; sister, Juanita Troutman; and a dear friend, Lou Culler. She also had a large extended family and a host of cherished friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with interment following at Parklawn Memorial Park.
