KERNERSVILLE – Peggy Jean Mabe Isley, 86, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Peggy was born on June 17, 1937 in Stokes County to Grady and Katherine Stone Mabe. Peggy was a devoted member of Ardmore Baptist Church, where she participated in the choir, served as a Sunday School Teacher, and a Deacon. She also enjoyed being a part of the church Handicrafters, making crafts to share with others in ministry and mission.

Peggy enjoyed ballroom dancing for many years. Her radiant beauty shone through everything that she did. She loved to travel, with Israel and Alaska being among her favorite destinations. Peggy was a great cook, and loved having her family over to share meals anytime they had a chance. Family was of most importance to Peggy and she was the first to step up and care for others as long as her health permitted.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ball; and two brothers, Bill Mabe and Jack Mabe.

Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Jerry Isley; a son, Lamar Isley; a daughter, Beverly Isley Landreth (Mark); two grandchildren Lorian Landreth and Brinan Landreth Wells (Stephen); three great grandchildren, Ryder, Paisley, and Declan; two brothers, Glenn Mabe (Judy), Wayne Mabe (Brenda); one sister, Dianne Boles (Harry); two special sisters-in-law, Mildred Mabe and Valena Mabe; and many precious nieces and nephews. The family thanks her caregivers, Bonnie and Cheryl, for the excellent care they provided during her illness.

A Celebration of Life to honor Peggy will be held at Ardmore Baptist Church on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM, with family visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, or donations to the Pivot Ministry at the same address; 501 Miller St, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of both the home care team and the Kate B. Reynolds hospice home at Trellis Supportive Care, for their kindness and professionalism in their provision of care for Peggy and her family.

Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
