Peggy Cook Carter

AdvanceGod called another angel home when Mrs. Peggy Cook Carter, 76, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Davie County to the late Clyde and Rosa Walker Cook on November 18, 1936. Mrs. Carter was a member of Mocks United Methodist Church and retired from Lucent Technologies with several years of service. She also co-owned Carter's Landscaping, Inc. and owned her own beauty shop where she worked out of her house. Mrs. Carter enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working in the yard and tending to her flowers. Preceding her in death was her husband, Hobert Lee Carter, Sr.; sister, Ailine Boger and five brothers, James ""J.C."" Cook, Norman Cook, Buster Cook, Lester ""Pete"" Cook, and Darrel ""Tom"" Cook. Surviving is a daughter, Lucille Hartman (Eddie) of Advance; son, H.L. Carter (Cheryl) of Advance; five grandchildren, Ashley, Dustin, Josh, Drew, and Tara; eight great-grandchildren, Walker, Bentley, Alizah, Dominick, Alexandria, Micah, Zander, and Aaliyah; also surviving are three sisters, Doris Walker (Jack), Ola Mae Boger, Carolyn Cornelius (Robert); and a special caregiver and niece, Lori Correll. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 13, 2013 at Mocks United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to Mocks United Methodist Church Youth Group, PO Box 2122 Advance, NC 27006 or to Davie County Home Health, PO Box 848 Mocksville, NC 27028. The family would like to send special thanks to Courtney Castle-Britt, Dr. Grote and staff at Forsyth Cancer Center, Dr. John Davis and Robin at Salem Family Practice, and to Davie County Home Health for all the care each one provided to Mrs. Carter.
