KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Pearl Oreta Tate, 88, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at her home. Pearl was born on October 1, 1924 to the late Walter Ray and Martha Cordell Lunsford. Pearl worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco for over 23 years and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Tate, Jr.; two sisters, Opel Rayfield and Nell Hyatt; and four brothers, Sam William, Roy E., James and Thurman Lunsford. Surviving are five sons, Robert (Kaye) Ray Tate, James William Tate, Sr., Walter (Gail) Lee Tate, Michael (Sandra) Wayne Tate, and Thomas (Becky) Lee Tate; one daughter, Donna Kay Estevez; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and three sisters, Lib Shores, Juanita Peoples, and Frances 'Trixie' Danner all of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Chuck Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
