Mrs. Pearl Cardwell Splitt, 81, of Mocksville, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Westwood Hills Nursing Center. She was born May 16, 1930 in Wilkes County to Toy and Belva Cornett Cardwell. Mrs. Splitt managed Friendly Center Grocery and Pearl Hair Fashion in Mocksville for over 20 years with her husband before his death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Splitt. Surviving are one son, Ralph Byrd and wife Sandra; one daughter, Jolene Kennedy; grandchildren, Michelle, Taylor and husband Marvin, and Ralph Byrd, Jr.; and several great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Pastor Don Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215.
