Pearl Emmaline Renegar Grubbs

Mrs. Pearl Emmaline Renegar Grubbs, 96, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 15, 1913 in Wilkes County, NC to the late Joseph Alfred Rhodes and Amanda Jane Watkins Rhodes. Mrs. Grubbs was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grubbs was preceded in death by her first husband, Elsie Marshall Renegar; her second husband, William Preston Grubbs; one daughter, Betty Doty; one son, Ray Renegar; and one grandson, Michael Doty. Mrs. Grubbs is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Worrell and husband, Gary of Tobaccoville; five grandchildren; Cheryl Young, Sonja Flynt, Brian Doty, Pamela Rumley and Keely Bryant; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Pettitt, Heather Harbin and Cody Ball; three great, great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mamie Ritchey. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, December 18 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
