Mrs. Pearl Dickerson Edwards of Winston-Salem died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was 100 years old. Mrs. Edwards was born March 17, 1914 in Lewisville, NC to Walter and Laura Dickerson. Pearl was the eighth of twelve children and grew up on her family's farm near the Yadkin River in Forsyth County. Pearl was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and baked and sold Moravian cookies for more than 17 years. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Wake Edwards, brothers, James, Claude, Bruce, and Leslie Dickerson, and sisters, Ethel Cook, Edna Spach, Mary Adams, Annie Trivette, and Alice Mayo. Surviving are her sons, Curtis and wife, Jeannette Edwards of Winston-Salem, and David Edwards of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Steven Edwards and wife, Karen, Tracy Hale and husband, Greg, Monty and Russell Edwards; eight great-grandchildren; and sister-in-laws, Dorothy and Ruth Dickerson. Special appreciation is given to Springwood Care for their care of Mrs. Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Chuck Halipilias. Mrs. Edwards will lie in state from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to Mt. Carmel UMC, 4265 Ebert Road, Winston-Salem, 27127.
