Pauline "Polly" Anderson Lovern

Mrs. Pauline ""Polly"" Anderson Lovern, 98, of Clemmons, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 7, 2016. Mrs. Lovern was born in Davie County, NC on December 31, 1917, to the late Charles Lee Anderson and Henrietta Beatrice Anderson. Polly graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1934. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church where she taught children's Sunday School. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Five Points Senior Citizens. Polly retired from Hanes Knitwear after 36 years of service. She also retired from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools where she worked in food service. In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Lovern and one brother, Glenn Anderson. Mrs. Lovern is survived by her daughter, Darlene Gardner (John) of Clemmons and one grandson, Joshua Clark Gardner of Clemmons. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Dr. Mary Miller and Rev. Ken Eller officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Center and Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Forsyth County particularly Lisa, Carrie, Michelle, Heather, Kathleen, Angie, Ashley, Christy, Yolanda and Sandra for the excellent care provided to Polly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4265 Ebert Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127, United Methodist Women Legacy Fund, 475 Riverside Dr., 15th Floor-Finance, New York, NY 10115 or Centenary United Methodist Church of Clemmons, 5280 Hampton Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the Lovern family.
