Mrs. Pauline ""Polly"" Stone Goodman, 86, of Winston-Salem went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 1, 1924, the daughter of the late, Robert Franklin and Maude Brown Stone. Mrs. Goodman was known as Polly. She was a member of United Baptist Church. She had worked on ships in Baltimore, MD during World War II and retired from Chester and Susie Bodenhamer's restaurant, known as Susie's Diner, in Kernersville following 18 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a precious son, Gene Wolfe, a granddaughter, Stephanie Idol Davis and a son-in-law, Aldon Idol. Survivors include her loving husband of 21 years, James Mont Goodman of the home; one beloved daughter, Brenda Kay Idol, who was known to her as her Christmas baby, of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Alvie Lawson of Winston-Salem and Rosalie Vanhoy of Kernersville; one brother, Gene Stone of Richmond, VA; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; one step daughter, Sherry Jones of Moorehead City and one stepson, Bobby Goodman of Germanton. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway.
