KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Pauline Sykes Crews, 89, died May 28, 2013, at her home. Pauline was born on May 25, 1924 in Guilford County to the late Clayton and Annie Pendry Sykes. Pauline enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers, but most of all loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Charles Crews; three brothers, Ralph, Grady, and John Sykes; and one sister, Pearl Sells. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Pennington (Hugh) and Diane Clifton (Don); one son, Kelly Crews; four grandchildren, Amy Mabe, Lisa Newton (Chad), Gray and Ashley Knight; six great grandchildren, Cierra York, Jordan Knight, Chase and Kirsten Mabe, Makena and Evan Newton; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Sells; one brother-in-law, Vernon Crews (Geralee) and several loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Bunker Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rorie officiating. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, May 30, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family extends a heartfelt 'Thank You' to Pauline's nurses, Pam Osborne, Haley Jackson and Michelle Wilson; Hospice nurse, Roxanne Rothrock; and a special friend, Connie Forcum, for all of their loving care given to Pauline.
