A devoted husband, father and pastor, Reverend Allen Byerly went home to be with Jesus, Thursday, March 9th, 2023, at his home in Wallburg, NC.
Allen Byerly was born September 10, 1953, to John Byerly and Thelma Jean Manns Byerly. He spent his early years in Silver Valley, NC and began traveling with his father, helping to setup for tent revivals. This exposure to the power of God made a lasting impact on his life. In 1971, Allen received the call of God into ministry and entered Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. Upon completing his training, Allen returned to North Carolina and served with his father in ministry at Tabor City.
In 1973, Allen began driving 75 miles one way to see Eudora Gale Pritchard, the daughter of Reverend Thomas and Glendah Pritchard. The two were married December 7th, 1973, and began working as youth ministers in Reverend Pritchard's church in Fayetteville, NC. Allen also worked in the heating and air conditioning field during the next several years and quickly became foreman. In 1977, Allen and Gale Byerly accepted their first senior pastorate at Emmanuel Holiness Church in St. Pauls, NC. They would later go on to serve in eight churches through pastoring, counseling, mission trips, outreaches and special programs over a period of 50 years. Allen served in various capacities for the Assemblies of God North Carolina district, Christ In Action Outreach Ministry, Kernersville Ministers' Association, as well as a liaison, counselor and chaplain for first responders and law enforcement in multiple locations. He was faithful to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and fed the hungry, gave to the needy, prayed for the sick, baptized the believing, counseled the searching and loved in a steadfast and practical way. We have no doubt that he is welcomed into Glory with the words he lived to hear: "Well done, good and faithful servant."
He is preceded by his mother, Thelma Jean Manns Byerly and his brother, Samuel Byerly. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Gale Byerly; his daughter Charity Herrmann (Michael Herrmann), along with their two daughters Elodie and Gabriella; his daughter Patience Absher (Allen Absher), along with their two sons Caleb and Seth; his son Mark Byerly (Charity Byerly), along with their two sons, Ezra and Benjamin; his father, Reverend John Byerly (Pat Byerly); his brother Ronald Byerly (Janet); his brother Dean Byerly (Sherry); his sister Melita Wright; his brother Boyd Byerly (Wanda); his brother Nathan Byerly (Cyndee); his sister Sherry Byerly; and twelve nieces and nephews.
Family will receive visitors at 10:00am on Tuesday, March 14th at Faith Church in Kernersville, North Carolina. The Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11:00am. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
