Ms. Paula Holcomb Rosenberg, 56, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 after a two-year battle with cancer. She fought her way through treatment with strength, humor and grace, never letting her spirit weaken. Paula was born on February 29, 1956 in Charlotte, NC to Paul and Reba Holcomb. She grew up in Winston-Salem and was the oldest of five children. Paula was lucky to spend many years at home raising her two daughters. In 2005 she got her CNA certification and began work at Forsyth Hospital on the mother-baby floor. She enjoyed working there and loved all her co-workers, many of whom became close friends. Paula loved working in her yard and always looked forward to her annual beach trip with close friends and family. Paula is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Patrick Clarke of Durham; a daughter, Erica Rosenberg; her parents, Paul Holcomb and Reba Bradshaw Holcomb; brother and sister-in-law, Grey and Susan Holcomb; brother, Keith Holcomb; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Wayne Holton; former husband, Ron Rosenberg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandra and Chris Leon; long-time best friend, Lona Ward (Rick), all of Winston-Salem; nieces and nephews, Brooke Hall (Michael) of Reidsville, Taylor Holcomb, Kalen Holcomb, Evan and Daniel Leon, all of Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Holcomb. Paula was lucky to have so many wonderful friends who offered love and support during the past few years. The family would like to thank everyone who visited, called, brought food and kept Paula in their thoughts and prayers, it is appreciated more than words can express. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the team at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their excellent care and support. A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, March 24 at 1:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Winston-Salem at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, 336-768-3972.
