Mr. Paul Wayne Ward, 70, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Paul was born on May 12, 1947 in Banner Elk, NC to Marshall and Thelma Chappell Ward. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1974, where he received his Masters in Industrial Arts. Paul was a Vietnam veteran who received the Bronze Star award while serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for over 29 years in vocational trades. Paul was the original owner of WARCO Enterprises and then later transitioned to Southern Piping Mechanical Corporation (SPC). He was a follower of Jesus Christ and a proud member of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Amanda Ireland Ward and his sister, Eva Carolyn Ward. He is survived by his loving wife Janice Bowman Ward; two sons, Justin Wayne Ward of Nashville, TN and Preston Jordan Ward of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Jessica Pearl Ward of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Ava Lynn Ward of Winston-Salem, Paxton Wayne Ward, Payton Ezra Ward, and their mother Jessica H. Ward, all of Concord; two sisters, Dianne Hicks and husband Carlos of Banner Elk, NC and Kathy Metz and husband Richard of Savannah, GA; nieces, Danielle Hicks, Lisa Leathers and Leslie Dempsey; a nephew, Carl Hicks. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, at Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Pastor Ed Sears and Pastor Jim Bush officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
