Paul William Wagoner

Mr. Paul William Wagoner, Sr., 89, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday August 28, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Surry County on April 28, 1920 to the late Brady Ray and Bertie Childress Wagoner. Mr. Wagoner was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII in the South Pacific Theater. Mr. Wagoner was of the Christian faith. He was a fun loving person, who enjoyed being with other people. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he loved gardening and growing fresh vegetables. He retired from Graveley International with 18 years of service. Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his loving wife Hazel S. Wagoner; two brothers, Billy R. Wagoner and Howard Wagoner; and one sister, Addie W. Nance. He is survived by one sister, Betty W. Tysinger, three children, Brenda W. Talbert of Clemmons, Paul W. Wagoner, Jr. and Johnny L. Wagoner of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Sandra T. Warwick, Teresa T. Michael, David S. Talbert, Laurie W. Stone, Lance Wagoner, Christine W. Hollar; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving companion and friend, Frances Jones. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday September 1, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by Rev. Stacy Abernathy. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening, August 31, 2009, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC.
