Paul Francis Vinson, Jr.

Paul Francis Vinson, Jr., 89, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Tues., May 17, 2016. He was born on Jan. 18, 1927 to Paul Francis Vinson, Sr. and Thelma Hunter Wood Vinson in Sampson County. Paul retired from Pilot Freight Carriers with 39 years of service as a truck driver. He was a devoted member of Woodland Baptist Church for 58 years and belonged to the Ambassadors Sunday School class. He was a quiet man who was willing to help anybody in need. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his canine companion, ""Scoot"", and he dearly loved his grandchildren. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dallie Whitley Vinson; son, Robert ""Bobby"" Vinson, and his wife, Janet; daughter, Paula Shaver, and her husband, Ralph; and granddaughters, Brittany and Katlin Vinson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 20, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Rd, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
