Paul Jerry Sumner

Mr. Paul Jerry Sumner was born on July 18, 1938 in Randleman, NC. He was the son of the late Paul Edward and Mary Ada Kidd Sumner. Jerry graduated from Randleman High School and attended NC State University. He served in the US Army, was a former member of the Winston Salem Jaycees where he served on the Board of Directors and was a charter member of the Winston-Salem Genealogical Society where he served on their Board of Directors and also served as Treasurer. He retired as a Planner from the City of Winston-Salem. He was a faithful and active member of Advent Moravian Church, serving as Treasurer of The Fellowship Class and Advent Senior Friends. He also served as the Treasurer of the church for 12 years, served on the Board of Trustees and was the first person to run the sound system for the church. Jerry loved his Lord, his family and his church family. He is survived by his wife Peggy Everhart Sumner; two daughters, Suzanne Keyes (Kevin) of Charlotte, NC and Carolyn Sharpe (David) of Winston-Salem, NC; brother Steve Sumner (Tina) of Summerfield NC; grandchildren Chris Keyes of Atlanta, GA, Matt Keyes of Cary, NC, and Kaitlin Pinnix of King, NC. He is also survived by his niece Meg Sumner and nephew Michael Sumner of Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will be held at Advent Moravian Church at 11 :00 am on Wednesday May 31, 2017, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating with burial following in the church's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday May 30, 2017, at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
