Paul Franklin Sturdivant, Jr. passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City. He was born on July 23, 1933 to Tate and Paul F. Sturdivant, Sr. Paul graduated from James A. Gray High School and then served in the US Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he was employed by AT&T as a long line navigator until his retirement. Paul loved to work with wood and created many beautiful pieces in his shop. He felt most at home when he was at the beach; in particular, fishing at Emerald Isle. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Nancy Hutchens Sturdivant. Surviving are daughters, Kelly Shea Swaim and Vicki Rene Smith, both of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Christopher, Austin and Haley Swaim; Mandi Smith, and Cherie Hamilton; great grandson, Blake Smith; and brother, Ronnie Sturdivant (Frances). A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Jeff Vogler officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12-1:30 pm. Interment will be at Forsyth Memorial Park.
