Paul Franklin Nixon, 87, of Hanahan, SC, died Monday, July 8, 2013. Mr. Nixon was born October 2, 1925 in Dobson, NC, son of the late Thomas J. Nixon and the late Matilda J. Hodge Nixon. During his life he worked as a Body Mechanic in several body shops including Capital Cadillac in Atlanta. He was a US Navy World War II veteran and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was a former resident of North Carolina who loved Atlanta Braves Baseball, working in the yard, raising his chickens and he maintained a lifelong sweet disposition and was a very generous man who loved and appreciated his family. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Arcadia. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Warren and her husband Obie of Hanahan, SC, Cathey Nixon of Hanahan, SC; grand-daughters, Jill Mason and her husband Danny of Hanahan, SC, Susan Brantley and her husband Michael of Columbia, SC; great-grandchildren: Tim Rickett, Garrett Mason, Danielle Mason, all of Hanahan, SC and Joseph Brantley of Columbia, SC. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Cole Nixon. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Church of Christ Arcadia at 11:00 am with Bobby Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery where Military Rites will be performed District 11 VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
