Paul J. Furrow, beloved brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away Thursday night after a brief illness. Following his wishes, his final days were spent at home, surrounded by family and receiving visits from friends. Paul grew up in Winston-Salem in the Ardmore neighborhood and graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1980. He attended UNC-G, was an Army veteran, and has worked at River Birch Lodge as Senior Bartender for the better part of 20 years. Paul is preceded in death by his parents Emmett Furrow, Sr. (2003) and Peggy Furrow (2019). He is survived by his brother Emmett Furrow, Jr. and his sisters Valerie (Brian) Cioce and Alyson (Jonathon) Young, numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins, along with his mother's surviving sisters: Lynda Daugherty, Marty Dozier, Janie Estes, and Eloise Furrow. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Paul's other, chosen families: The owners, employees, and patrons of River Birch Lodge, and Pastor Jon and his congregation at Peace Haven Baptist Church, all of whom provided tremendous support, both financial and spiritual, over the course of his illness. Visitation will be at Hayworth-Miller on Silas Creek Parkway Sunday Feb. 5 from 6-8 pm and the funeral service will be held Monday Feb. 6 at 11 am at Peace Haven Baptist Church in Yadkinville with a brief graveside service after. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care. Their care and support were invaluable during this time.
