Paul Aloysius Birkner

KERNERSVILLE-Paul Aloysius Birkner, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 3, 1931 in Surry Co. to the late Frank and Anna Birkner. Paul retired from the Winston Salem Forsyth City County Planning Board after 32 years of service. He was a United States Air Force veteran having served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Nichols Birkner of the home; two sons, Charles Michael Birkner of Greensboro, Peter Allan Birkner and wife, Mary of Redmond, WA; two grandchildren, Jordan Alysse and Kyra Michele Birkner of Greensboro; one brother, Vincent Birkner of Lakeland, Fl. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Loves United Methodist Church with Rev. Sybil Parks and Rev. Chip Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Walkertown. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
