Paul Giles Barney, Sr.

Mr. Paul Giles Barney, Sr., 79, of Advance passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1929 in Davie County to Wiley Seaborn and Paulina Shermer Barney. In Paul's early life, he loved to hunt and took pride in his bird dogs. He attended Advance United Methodist Church and was also very proud of his family. His special days were working for Dixie Furniture and hauling several Advance ladies to work. After retirement he provided produce for his family and locals from his little ""honor system"" produce stand. Paul was known by all in Advance. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Paul Giles Barney, Jr. Surviving him is his loving wife, Betty Wall Barney; a daughter, Brenda Seaford and husband Tony; a son, Randy Lee Barney; stepdaughter, Debbie Hege and husband Steve; two grandsons, Jeff Allen and wife Tara and Chris Barney and wife Jessica; a great grandson, Dean Allen and a daughter-in-law, Gale Williard. A funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Advance United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
