Paul "Fuzzy" Ayers, Jr.

Mr. Paul ""Fuzzy"" Theon Ayers, Jr. of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Fuzzy was born June 21, 1927 in Forsyth County to Paul Theon Ayers, Sr. and Erma Taylor Ayers. He loved to spend time with his wife, Donna, at Nags Head and was known for being an avid picture taker. Fuzzy served in the US Navy, then joined the Winston-Salem Fire Department, retiring as a Captain with 30 years of service. He also spent many years training new EMT recruits at Forsyth Tech. He enjoyed genealogy and wrote several books on his family's history. Fuzzy was the founding member of the Wilby Kincy Theatre Association and was one of the first ushers at The Carolina Theatre. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna and sons, Paul E. Ayers and John T. Ayers.

Fuzzy is survived by his daughter, Martha Box and husband Dan; grandchildren, Christy Ayers, Amy Bauer and husband Tim, Jason Ayers and wife Lisa, Jessie Mahe and husband Alex, Ryan Ayers, Holly Ayers, and Jason Sherrill; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 11 AM at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
