On January 14, 2022, Patricia “Patsy” Ann Hicks Taylor, 76, passed into the full presence of the one who has sustained her and loved her all her life. Thanks be to God!! She was born on September 26, 1945 to Charlie Lee and Edna Conrad Hicks of Lewisville, NC. A 1963 graduate of Southwest High School in Clemmons, Patsy had an entrepreneurial spirit that inspired several successful business endeavors over the years. Her deepest passion was always playing piano and sharing it with others. She was a gifted pianist and started playing in church from her youth and continued throughout her life.
She taught piano for many years and served several congregations in both Winston Salem and Charlotte as Director of Music/Organist/Pianist. Her most fulfilling tenure was creating musical programs for the UMC Children's Home, 1984-95. She became a certified Activities Director and served the Carriage Club and Plantation Retirement Estates in Charlotte for many years. She loved any opportunity to unite people through music.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Josie Simmons. She is survived by her sister, Martha (Greg) Shaw; a brother, Terry (Edgar) Hicks; a brother-in-law, John Simmons; nieces, Cathy (Mark) Norman and Caroline Harrell; a nephew, Jeff (Heather) Shaw; seven treasured great nieces and nephews; many dear cousins; and a host of cherished friends.
