Patricia Peyton Petree, lovingly known as Patsy, passed away at Trinity Elms in Clemmons, NC, on May 22, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born on April 4,1935, in Delaware County, PA, to the late Edwin Aubrey Peyton and Pattie Mae Watson. Patsy’s passion was helping others and that showed in every aspect of her life as she dedicated herself not only to her family, but to a long career in nursing. Patsy graduated from City Memorial Hospital’s School of Nursing in 1958, and received a Bachelor of Science from Winston Salem State University. City Memorial later became Forsyth Memorial where Patsy became a much beloved instructor of Surgical Nursing. In 1985, Patsy became the Director of Nursing at the Blumenthal Jewish Home in Clemmons and remained there until her retirement in 2000. Following retirement, Patsy continued her service to others in a part-time capacity with Tender Care, Inc. Patsy’s impact extended far beyond her career. Her empathetic nature seemed to draw every animal in need of rescue to her doorstep and she welcomed them! Her concern & care for the stray cat population in Clemmons was legendary! Patsy is survived by her son, Edwin Aubrey Petree; her sister, Adelaide (Tinky) Hamilton; and sister-in-law, Linda Petree Kolb. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Petree; and sister, Nancy Peyton Nance. Patricia Peyton Petree will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, nieces, nephews & and all whose lives she touched with her kindness. Her legacy as a compassionate nurse and a loving family member will be remembered. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Clemmons Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Christopher C. Thore and Pastor Dwight Ball officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Forsyth Humane Society honoring Patsy, 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mrs. Petree.
