Pastor Milton Ward Laramore

KERNERSVILLE-Pastor Milton Ward Laramore, 84, the youngest of 12 children died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born September 6, 1924 in Forsyth Co. to the late James Israel and Claudia Hester Laramore. Milton was a charter member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was ordained in 1952 and served as pastor at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Kernersville, Samaritan Baptist Church, and retired in 1998 after 29 years of pastoring at Smith Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen Townsend Laramore. Surviving are his daughter, Angela L. Cornell and husband Richard of Kernersville; two sons, James Milton Laramore of Kernersville, and Daniel Edwin Laramore and wife Jan of Plainville, MA; six grandchildren, Mike Laramore and wife Tricia, Tim Laramore and wife Olivia, Lyndie Laramore, Kyle Laramore , Kim Kennedy and husband Jay, Lydia Beeson and husband Andrew; six great-grandchildren, Brittany Laramore, Travis and David Laramore, Tori and Logan Kennedy, and Kylie Beeson; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Smith Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Peters and Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the church. Memorials may be made to Smith Grove Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 2707 Sandy Ridge Rd, Colfax, NC 27235. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
