Our Dearest Daddy ji, Pashauri Lal Jauhar, spent ninty-one cheerful, healthy and inspiring years on earth. He was a loving and tender husband to his darling wife, Pushap Lata who he will now join again in spirit. Daddy ji was born to Sawan Mal and Shanti Devi on November 06, 1921 in Punjab, India. From there, he shared some of his bravest moments as he, Pushap and a few of their children left everything behind and fled to safety in India during the Pakistani partition of the Punjabi state. Newly relocated, Daddy ji and Pushap completed their family of nine children, all of whom are grateful for the impact he has had in shaping the values of our entire family. They are from eldest to youngest: Prem, Nirmal, Dipak, Urmil, Vijay, Kanchan, Neelam, Arun and Neeta. Naturally possessing a strong work ethic, Daddy ji spent his 40-year career at JCT Mills as a Financial Controller. He started work at the Phagwara location, and later moved to Sri Ganganagar. After retirement he and Pushap moved to Atlanta, GA with their daughter Vijay and son-in-law Gurbinder. Daddy ji and Pushap spent their last few years in Winston-Salem, NC with their son Dipak and daughter-in-law Madhu. Daddy ji loved all sweets and still managed to be the fittest one in our family. He began practicing yoga at the age of 8, and even in his later years, it wasn't unusual for one of his 17 grand-children to find him doing a headstand. His three great-grandchildren, and soon to be many more, will have countless stories to hear about the legend. When he wasn't working, loving Pushap, tending to his children, doing yoga, power walking, or blessing one of his grand-children, one could find him writing poetry. He often read his poems in the town of Phagwara, and at various weddings and graduations. He published a book of poetry at the age of 90. We will miss you, dearest Daddy ji.
