Pansy Bishop Hancock

Pansy (Pat) Bishop Hancock, 96 of Winston-Salem N.C., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday April 18, 2009. She was born on June 11, 1912 in Lenoir, NC to the Late Mr. & Mrs. C.D. Bishop. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Ed, Charlie and Lawrence and five sisters; Effie, Minnie, Ada, Pearl and May; and her husband of sixty years, Otis Eugene Hancock. She was a lifelong active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was one of the founding Den Mothers of the original Cub Scout Troop. She was a member of the Women's Society, Choir, Martha Bell Talley Circle and Dot Lee Davis Sunday School Class. She was a great story teller and enjoyed writing programs for the Joy Club and many other church activities. Some of her favorite past times were; bingo at White Rock Community Center, quilting with her Church family and play cards and Scrabble with friends and family. She was employed by Western Electric Co during World War II, and a number of years at Miller's Variety Store. She is survived by a son Larry E. and wife Janet of Bermuda Run, NC; a son Michael G. and wife Nettie of Clearwater, FL; a daughter Bonnie Hege and husband Grady of Pfafftown, NC; a daughter Cathy Kirkland and husband Jack of Huntersville, NC. She had nine grand children: Robert Hancock, Kelly Hancock, Gary Hancock, Dawn Harris, Tammy Wall, Kim Wall, Michael Hege, Eric Kirkland and Amanda Kirkland; ten great grand children and two great great grand children. A memorial service will be conducted at Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church on Tuesday April 21, 2009 at 12:00 pm. There will be no formal visitation. The family will receive friends at the Church from 11:00am until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, or Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte NC 28207. Her smiling Face will be sorely missed.
