Otis Calvin Sands

Mr. Otis Calvin Sands, 77, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 6, 1937 in Stokes Co. the son of the late James Anderson Sands and Eva Freeman Sands. Mr. Sands was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Wood and Rachel Bullins and a brother, James Sands. Mr. Sands is survived by his loving wife, Joan Rule Sands, a sister, Ola Mae Dowdy (Warren) of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July16, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Dr. Howard L. Welborn officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 this evening Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
