Oscar McClung Moore

Mr. Oscar McClung Moore, 88, passed away Friday, August 07, 2009 at his home. He was born in Rockbridge County, VA to the late Warren Scott and Sallie Elizabeth Smith Moore. Mr. Moore was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran having served during WWII and later worked for Western Electric for 35 years before retiring. He was a loyal member of Crews United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and yard work in his spare time. Mr. Moore was a loving husband, father, and relentless provider for his family. Preceding him in death were his siblings, Myrtle Lee Moore Chaplin, Lloyd ""Bake"" Richard Moore, Clifton Henry Moore, Leslie ""Lester"" Moore, Hunter Winfred Moore, and Helen Louise Moore Wilkerson. Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Edith Fulp Moore of the home; two sons, Terry E. Moore (Marlene Salyer) of Vanceboro, NC and Sterling H. Moore (Peggy R.) of Hampstead, NC; one daughter, Melody M. Hawkins (Glen) of Kernersville, NC; one grandchild, Andrew Moore in addition to loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Crews United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Crady officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The immediate family would like to extend special thanks to all family, friends, church members, and care givers for all the love, care, and support of our Daddy.
