Mrs. Orpha Ada Holbrook Burrell, 92, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 3, 1916 in Franklin, the daughter of the late James R. and Pearl Gibson Holbrook. Mrs. Burrell was a member of Hopewell Moravian Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She also loved restoring antiques for years. She was a devoted wife and mother and especially loved being a grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Hugh Burrell of the home; one daughter, Nancy B. Cheek and husband, Ron of Lexington; one son, David Burrell and wife Nayda of Walnut Cove; three grandchildren, Jeff Burrell, Lisa Martin and Jason Cheek; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Eddis Hall and Vennie Davis of Winston-Salem and three step grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:30 until 11:30 am at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel followed by a graveside service at 12:00 noon at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
