Ophe Jane Gentry Welborn

Mrs. Ophe Jane Gentry Welborn, 93, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at Walnut Cove Health Care in Walnut Cove. She was born March 18, 1916 in Wilkes County to the late Sneed Franklin Gentry and Eliza Cordeha Sebastian Gentry. Mrs. Welborn was a long time member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where she attended as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dallas Click Welborn, a grandson, Tony Smith, four sisters, Bessie, Ethel, Bonnie and Eloise and four brothers, Herman, Clyde, Wayne and Archie. Mrs. Welborn is survived by a daughter, Carol Welborn Carter of Walnut Cove, a son, Jerry Charles Welborn of Walnut Cove, two grandchildren, Mike Welborn of King and David Welborn (Anita) of Rock Hill, SC, a granddaughter-in-law, Connie Smith of Walnut Cove, seven great-grandchildren, Cole, Devin, Heather, Dylan, Haley, Makenzie and Gavin and one brother, Lonnie Gentry of Elkin. Funeral services for Mrs. Welborn will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor David Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 Sunday evening, December 20, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
