WINSTON-SALEM, NC-Mrs. Opalee Smith Hall, 89, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at her residence. Opalee was born on October 10, 1925 in Buncombe County, NC to James Everett and Clara Stevens Smith. She was a faithful member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 40 years. Opalee was a teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools from which she retired with over 20 years of loyal service. She loved to knit and enjoyed creating hats for chemotherapy patients of which she gave hundreds away. Opalee also loved to work in her flower garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Opalee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sheridan Lee Hall; and two children, Allan and Bryan Hall. She is survived by two daughters, Shari Sinnott and Lisa Hale and her husband George IV, all of Winston-Salem; two sons, Dana and Gregory Hall, both of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; and one sister, Ramona Hunnicutt of Las Vegas, Nevada. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Neill Shaw and Rev. Marilyn Weiler officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. There will be a reception in the church fellowship hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all memorials be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1308 Davie Avenue, Statesville, NC 28677. On-line condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
