Opal Young Flynt

KERNERSVILLE - Opal Young Flynt, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born February 16, 1925 in Forsyth Co. to the late Elias Linville and Alma McGee Young. Opal was a member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville. She loved going to yard sales and consignment stores. One of her biggest accomplishments which she was very proud of was a book she wrote titled; Gold Were the Days, depicting her family growing up during the time of the Great Depression. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. ""Pete"" Flynt, Sr.; two brothers, Hubert and Raymond Young; and three sisters, Annie Crutchfield, Hazel Morris and Edna Beeson. Surviving are her three children, Shirley Prater, James M. Flynt, Jr. and wife, Judy all of Kernersville, Gracie Little and husband, Roy ""Mack"" Little, Jr. of Winston Salem; three grandchildren, Duane Prater and fiancé, Ashley Adams and her children, Austin and Hailey Adams; Andy Flynt and wife, Amy and their children, Keelen and Caleb, Mack Little, III and wife, Pam and son, Matthew Arnold; two sisters, Elsie Marshall, Wonnie McCormick and husband, Rufus; one brother, Clyde Young and wife, Nora; and sister-in-law, Betty Ruth Flynt. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Kernersville with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 P.M. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
