Omer Nicholas "O.N." Pope, Jr.

Kernersville – Mr. Omer Nicholas “O.N.” Pope, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born on October 25, 1932, in Guilford County to Omer Nicholas Pope, Sr. and Alma Reeves Pope. O.N. was strong in his faith and very involved with Gideons International. He was currently a member of Triad Baptist Church. Until his retirement, O.N. was the Owner and Operator of Pope Equipment. He enjoyed golfing and camping at the beach and the mountains. O.N. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, O.N. was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Gail Pope and his sister, Unita Hayden.

He is survived by his four children Mike Alan Pope (wife, Angela), Timothy Pope (wife, Sally), Mercia Snider (husband, Chuck), and Terri Fearn (husband, Eric); four grandchildren, Anna, Christian, and Jessica and Gabi; two great grandchildren, Whitney and Isaiah; his siblings, D. Brent Pope (wife, Hiromi) and Donna Pope Atkins (husband, Mike); and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for O.N. will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Rob Decker officiating. Interment will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon’s International at The Gideons International Forsyth East Camp at 931-E S. Main Street #217, Kernersville, NC 27285 or to Nehemiah’s Few at Triad Baptist Church at 1175 South Main Street, Kernersville, NC 27284.
