Mrs. Ollie Mae James Shouse, 90, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on October 26 at Vienna Village Retirement Community. She was born on January 28, 1920, to the late John William James Sr. and Bessie Mae Styers James. She graduated from Old Town School and attended Mars Hill College. She was a lifetime member of Beck's Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until her health failed. Mrs. Shouse was married to Roy C. Shouse, who preceded her in death, for 62 years. She was a very caring person who always selflessly cared for others. Surviving is son, Jerry H. Shouse (Linda) of Winston-Salem, daughters, Nancy S. Samuels (Ed) of Wilmington, Annie S. Davenport (Wally) of Lewisville; a brother, J.W. James Jr. of Richmond, VA; 9 grandchildren, Lisa Santos (Marcello)of Loxahatchee, FL, Angie S. Schexnayder of Garner, Jerry A. Shouse (Jennifer) of Clarksville, TN, Edward Samuels (Jill) of Holly Springs, Cynthia Wiley (Mike) of Garner, Michael Davenport (Roxanne) of Lewisville, Christopher Davenport (Lisa ) of Tobaccoville, Charles Shouse of Stony Point and Michael Samuels of Wilmington; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kristina Davenport, Jacob Shouse, Dylan Schexnayder, Ashley Wiley, Olivia Schexnayder, Jenna Shouse, Kaitlyn Davenport, Samantha Schexnayder, Charity Davenport, Owen Samuels, Collin Samuels and Andrew Davenport; nephew John W. James III (Linda) of Maplewood, NJ and niece Suzy James King (Rick) of Northridge, CA. Visitation will be at 1:00 followed by the funeral service at 2:30 on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Beck's Baptist Church, 5505 Becks Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106 with Dr. Karl Minor and Dr. Ray Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to Beck's Baptist Church Memorial Fund, or Hospice and Palliative Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to thank the staff of Vienna Village Retirement Community for the loving care they provided our mother during her 5 year residency and also Hospice for their care and compassion during her recent illness.
