Oliver Hughes, Jr.

Mr. Oliver Buel Hughes, Jr., 75, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on July 30, 1947 to the late Oliver Buel Hughes, Sr. and Virginia McAllister Hughes. Mr. Hughes served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Lewisville Baptist Church and had retired from Roadway Trucking Co. with 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing. Mr. Hughes was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death was a son, Mark Christopher Hughes. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Sue S. Hughes; daughter, Tara Barr (Denny); granddaughter, Jesse Barr; grandsons, Wesley and Noah Barr; two sisters, Vickie Mattox (Paul) and Shannon Colby; also surviving are four nephews, Harrison Colby, Knox Colby, Lin Mattox, and Jack Mattox. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Lewisville Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Messer officiating.
