Olen Calvin Moore

Mr. Olen Calvin Moore, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1930 in Nash County to Olin Wesley and Nancy Bell Moore. Mr. Moore graduated from John W. Hanes High School in 1948 and was retired from Sara Lee after 42 years of service. He was a member of Bethesda Moravian Church where he served on the Board of Elders and coached their softball team. He was active in sports as long as his health permitted. Surviving is his wife, Joan ""Jo"" Reich Moore of the home; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, William Reich and wife Susie; and three very special people, Leslie G. Stovall and husband Tim, Caroline and Jennifer Grout, all of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Bethesda Moravian Church with the Rev. Richard Spaugh and the Rev. Brad Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethesda Moravian Church, 740 Bethesda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
